The file tools don't. Converting between MP3, WAV, and M4A, trimming, merging, changing volume, and cleaning up a recording all run on an audio engine loaded into the page, so the file is processed in your browser's memory and never reaches a server. The voice recorder and mic test ask for microphone permission through the browser and keep the audio local — recording something does not send it anywhere, and you decide what to do with the result. The one exception to know about is speech-to-text: it uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, and in Chrome that recognition service is provided by the browser vendor, which may process the audio on its servers to produce the transcript. That is a property of the browser feature, not something we host, but if a recording is sensitive, the recorder and the file tools are the fully local path.
