How do I add sales tax to a price?
Multiply the price by the tax rate (as a decimal) to get the tax, then add it to the price. This tool does it for you — enter the price and rate under Add tax.
How do I remove sales tax from a total?
Divide the tax-inclusive total by 1 plus the rate as a decimal (e.g. total ÷ 1.0825 for 8.25%). Use the Remove tax tab and it's calculated automatically.
Which tax rate should I use?
Use your local combined rate (state plus any city or county tax). Rates vary by location, so check your area's current sales tax rate.
